Tuition Fees & Living Costs

Cost of Living in India

The cost of living in India is steadily rising, but it remains significantly lower than in the United States and many European countries. The cost of living in India is also significantly lower than in many other popular studies abroad destinations further east, such as China, Japan, and South Korea. The cost of living in the capital and other major cities is higher than it is in most countries. Despite the fact that New Delhi is the capital, Mumbai is the largest city. The vast majority of international students end up in one of these two cities. These costs will reflect the cost of living in New Delhi, as they both have a relatively similar costs of living. The following are some average costs:

  • Monthly rent (1 bedroom apartment): 18,200INR
  • Utilities (monthly average): 5100INR
  • Monthly public transport pass: 1000INR
  • Meal (inexpensive restaurant): 300INR

The average monthly cost of living in India is 27,265INR ($2,620). Rent is included in this figure. Food costs can be reduced even further by shopping at markets and from street vendors, as many locals do. During their time in India, the majority of international students choose to live in residence halls.

Indian Visa Application

International students must have a valid study or research visa to Study in India. SwiftFord guide Nepalese and international students to apply for Indian study and research visa. Multiple entry student visas are given to the genuine and bonafide students to pursue regular full-time studies at recognized Indian institutions. Spouse and dependent family members accompanying students may apply for an entry visa instead of a tourist visa.

High Commission of India in the respective country reserves full right to issue provisional visa, study visa and research visa based on the application.

Duration and Validity
A student visa is valid for the period of study as approved by the High Commission of India in the respective country. The visa duration begins from the day of issuance, and not on the day of entry in India. However, a provisional visa is valid for 6 months. Extension of a provisional visa is sometimes difficult.

The requirement of a study visa for Nepalese student is outlined below-

  • Passport, in original, with a minimum validity of one year as on the date of submission of application for visa.
  • The passport should have at least two blank pages.

  • One recent (2 X 2 inch) color photograph depicting full face with light background;

Proof of Residence
Utility Bill such as electricity, telephone, water bill

Proof of citizenship
Either a copy of the National ID Card or birth certificate.

Proof of Profession:

  • Copy of Identity cards from the educational institution is to be attached.
  • Online Visa Application
  • Evidence of admission to the Institute/Course in a recognized University / Board in India.
  • Guarantee from parents/guardians, through the authorized bank to the effect that the applicant has enough financial resources to support studies in India and that bank, will remit the required foreign exchange on behalf of the parent/guardian.
  • Photocopies of relevant academic certificates on the basis of which admission is sought or has been obtained.
  • A medical fitness certificate for boarding school students. True copy of the latest school attendance certificate and character certificate from the teacher
  • A written undertaking by parents for boarding school students.
  • An undertaking from parents if the applicant is below 18 years of age.
